The Strategic Scientific Reserve was an organization in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Abbreviated to the S.S.R., it to was a top-secret Allied organization formed in 1940 during World War II. Its goal was to stop the Adolf Hitler's Nazis and Hydra from conquering the world. To turn the tide, the S.S.R. recruited Dr. Abraham Erskine to create an army of Super Soldiers, but were only able to create one: Captain America. In 1945, Hitler lost and the world was free, but the S.S.R. still found other threats to its nation and the world. Meanwhile, a global organization S.H.I.E.L.D. was formed, which absorbed the S.S.R.

The Marvel One-Shot Agent Carter would begin the origins of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is set in 1946, but this is disregarded in the Agent Carter TV series, which is also set from 1946-1947. It's possible that the Marvel One-Shot still occurred, just not in 1946. The S.S.R. is still running by 1949, as that is the year is "the Playground" was built, as mentioned in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode "Meet the New Boss".

Notable members included Peggy Carter, Steve Rogers (Captain America), Chester Phillips, the Howling Commandos, Roger Dooley, Jack Thompson, and Daniel Sousa.
