Former Agent Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow, is a fictional character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She is played by Scarlett Johansson.

Romanoff was trained in the Russian Black Widow program. At some point she fought Clint Barton (Hawkeye), a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, who turned her over to his side. This in turn eventually caused her to become a founding member of the Avengers.

When Romanoff and Barton traveled into the past to Vormir (before Thanos took the Soul Stone), they found out that only by giving up the life of a loved one, could the Soul Stone be released. Black Widow and Hawkeye fought each other, as each felt it necessary to give up their own life to collect the Soul Stone to join the other Stones in order to restore the lives lost by Thanos wiping half of the universe's population with them. Black Widow won out, jumping off the sacrificial cliff to free the Soul Stone.

Her allies consisted of Nick Fury, the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Tony Stark (Iron Man), Steve Rogers (Captain America), and Barton.
