Columbia Pictures

Columbia Pictures is an American movie studio, a division of Sony Pictures, who co-produced Spider-Man: Homecoming, with Marvel Studios and Pascal Pictures. Before this film, Columbia Pictures also produced two different series based on Spider-Man, first a trilogy directed by Sam Raimi from 2002-2007, then the two The Amazing Spider-Man films released in 2012 and 2014, directed by Mark Webb. Due to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 earning considerably less than the first one, Sony set up a deal that allowed Marvel to personally produce for them a new series with Amy Pascal's Pascal Pictures, but allowing Sony to still retain creative control, distribution rights, etc.
