Clinton[1] Francis[1] "Clint" Barton, also known as Hawkeye and Ronin,[2] is a fictional character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is played by Jeremy Renner.

Under the codename of Hawkeye, Barton was an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., specializing in archery. He later became an Avenger, in The Avengers, which lasted until Avengers: Age of Ultron. In Captain America: Civil War, he went back into battle to take the side of Steve Rogers (Captain America), when he stood against the mandatory signing of the Sokovia Accords. This got Barton and Rogers's other followers detained in the Raft, but they were all soon freed by Rogers.

A secret part of Barton's life is that he's actually a family man, as revealed in Age of Ultron, with his young family put up in a farm safehouse by Nick Fury, the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Saturday Night Live[]

Jeremy Renner hosted the December 11, 2012 episode, in which he played a sketch based on the Chitauri invasion of New York in The Avengers. The joke is, he's only useful for eleven arrows--twelve if he squeezes one in, which isn't safe. The Avengers keep on thinking up ways where Barton can use his arrow to save the day, but then are reminded he has none left. He also hurts his hand when giving a fist bump to Hulk, who uses Hawkeye as a club against the Chitauri soldiers.
