James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes, also known as Winter Soldier and White Wolf, is a fictional character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is played Sebastian Stan.

In Captain America: The First Avenger, he was introduced as the best friend and an ally of Steve Rogers (Captain America) during World War II. During the film, he was believed to have fallen to his death, but Captain America: The Winter Soldier revealed that he had been brainwashed by Hydra to serve them as the Winter Soldier, which was continued in Captain America: Civil War, where Steve fought for his friend's freedom. In a mid-credits scene of Civil War, Bucky was granted asylum in Wakanda by T'Challa (Black Panther), who agreed to put Bucky in cryogenic suspension until he cure for his brainwashing could be found, which it was by T'Challa's sister, Shuri. The Wakandians then referred to him as White Wolf. When Thanos got all five Infinity Stones, he reduced Earth's population to "restore order", which included Barnes.
