Doctor Arnim Zola, PhD[1] is a fictional character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is played by Toby Jones.
Zola was the top scientist of Johann Schmidt (Red Skull)'s Hydra science division in World War II.[2] He was later captured by the S.S.R., then recruited by its successor, S.H.I.E.L.D.[1] He used this opportunity to secretly rebuild Hydra from within S.H.I.E.L.D. When he suffered an incurable disease, his mind proved far too valuable, so his consciousness lived on in a super computer bunker.[1]
