The American Broadcasting Company, or simply ABC for short, is the flagship television network for Disney-ABC Television Group, a subsidiary of the Disney Media Networks division of The Walt Disney Company.

In the early 2010s, ABC was looking to air TV series set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Early attempts were based on the Hulk, Jessica Jones, and Bobbi Morse, but were all eventually scrapped, although a Jessica Jones TV series ended up airing on Netflix, while Morse was added to the main line-up of characters on ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for seasons 2-3. ABC and Marvel gave up on the Hulk, after Mark Ruffalo's praised performance in the The Avengers film.

In 2013, ABC aired Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., after the success of The Avengers and release of the DTV short film Item 47.

All the shows are co-produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.
